#RaiderPride: Congratulations to Twin Valley High School student, Fynn McHugh, on a phenomenal breakout season as a freshman on the wrestling team! With an impressive record of 35-7, Fynn’s 35 wins are the most by any freshman in Twin Valley school history — an incredible accomplishment! Not only that, but his losses were all to state or regional qualifiers, proving he's right there with the best. Here are just a few highlights from his standout year: - 2nd at the Pottstown Invitational - 1st at the Snowdown Throwdown - 2nd at the Golden Bear Invitational - 2nd in Berks County - 3rd at PIAA District 3 Section 1 - Regional qualifier - Wrestled at 114 six times

Hands-on learning at Honeybrook Elementary Center! Mrs. Goldberg's Kindergarten class had a farm-fresh adventure today, harvesting cucumbers from their flex farm. HBEC Principal, Mr. Nate Bentley, joined in the fun, helping with the harvest and leading a lesson on stems, roots, and more. The students loved tasting the fruits of their labor and even took home their very own homegrown veggies!

Twin Valley students Thomas Barr, Kevin Bolt, Daniel Cummings, Aleah Heiland, Alex Johnson, Jade Kuhn, Aidan Long, AJ Loyd, Timothy Shannon, Carson Toothman, and Justin Weist participated today in the 3rd Annual Engineering Jam, hosted by Alvernia University. The event included a total of 180 students from around the county, working in teams of 4-6 members. This year’s challenge was to design and build a catapult using provided materials to launch a rubber ball in three different challenges: distance, accuracy, and a "castle challenge" in which the catapult had to knock down specific structural components. Students had 1.5 hours to design and construct their devices from the supplied materials. In an interesting twist, students were also given coins that could be exchanged for additional materials 30 minutes into the build or redeemed at the end for extra points. Thomas Barr, Daniel Cummings, Aidan Long, AJ Loyd, Timothy Shannon, and Justin Weist’s team tied for 3rd place out of approximately 30 teams! The event was organized by Alvernia’s engineering staff and students, with judging provided by sponsor First Energy. Congratulations to all participants in this prestigious event!

#RaiderPride: In collaboration with school counselor Christine Forney, several 3rd and 4th grade students at Honey Brook Elementary Center packed snack bags for Meals on Wheels as part of a kindness initiative. Meals on Wheels supports over 5,000 community-based programs nationwide, working to combat senior hunger and isolation. We are thankful for the opportunity for our students to contribute to this important cause within our local community.

#FeatureFriday: Poetry and Valentine's Day go hand-in-hand. Students in Mrs. Smith's 4th grade classroom at Robeson Elementary Center explored the world of poetry, writing original poems and participating in a collaborative 'gallery walk' to read and offer thoughtful feedback on their peers' work. A wealth of artistic expression and creativity was on display from our talented young poets. Way to go!

Elizabeth Juryea was named Twin Valley High School’s December Intern of the Month for her outstanding work at Elverson’s Hopewell Furnace. But her impact didn’t stop there—she was also recently named Hopewell Furnace’s Intern of the Year! Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site preserves the late 18th and early 19th-century setting of an iron-making community, including the charcoal-fueled furnace, as well as its natural and cultural resources. Throughout her internship, Liz has gained valuable experience in community outreach and service, which will serve her well in her future career with the National Park Service. Congratulations, Liz!
