Happy Earth Day, Twin Valley! There are so many ways, both big and small, to make a positive impact on our planet, and our students are leading by example. At Robeson Elementary Center, first grade students recently took part in a thoughtful and fun “spring cleaning” project. They brought in books from home that they no longer read, and for each book donated, they received a Book Buck to “purchase” a different book brought in by a fellow student. This creative book exchange not only promoted a love for reading but also highlighted the importance of reusing and recycling - a perfect way to honor Earth Day! How will you make a difference today?

Riding to School in Style: Last week, Honey Brook Elementary Center (HBEC) students Eleanor Logue, Lydia Eadline, Autumn Wray, and Mae Wray had a school drop-off they’ll never forget! Back in December, Eleanor’s family won a HBEC raffle for a ride to school courtesy of the Honey Brook Fire Department. She finally cashed in—and brought a few friends along for the adventure. Thank you, Honey Brook Fire Company, for creating such memorable and exciting experiences for our students!

Can you identify these birds? Our fourth graders at Twin Valley Elementary Center can! Yesterday, students enjoyed an assembly from Hawk Mountain Sanctuary, where they learned about raptors up close and personal. Fun Fact: Established in 1938, Hawk Mountain Sanctuary was the first refuge for birds of prey in the world.

#FeatureFriday: In a thrilling display of knowledge and teamwork, Twin Valley High School emerged victorious at the annual Berks WorldQuest Competition, held this past Tuesday at Reading Area Community College. Facing off against 19 other teams from nine different schools, Twin Valley outperformed the competition and secured their place at the National Academic WorldQuest Competition in Washington, D.C., this April 27th -29th . The WorldQuest Competition, a rigorous international affairs challenge sponsored by the World Affairs Councils of America, tests students on their knowledge of global issues, current events, and international relations. Throughout the event, teams answered complex questions covering topics such as global economy, U.S. foreign policy, and climate change. Twin Valley’s team was led by returning Sophmores Benjamin Erickson, Catherine Paine and Serphina Ware, along with new member Freshman Ethan Jordan. Their victory marks a significant achievement, as last year they finished in 5th place. “We are so proud of our students,” said Twin Valley’s advisor Christian Murray. “They dedicated countless hours to studying and preparing, and their commitment truly paid off. We can’t wait to see them represent our School and Berks County on the national stage.” The team will now turn its focus to the National Academic WorldQuest Competition in Washington, D.C., where they will compete against top teams from across the country. The event offers students the opportunity to showcase their expertise while engaging with diplomats, scholars, and other global affairs experts. With their victory, Twin Valley High School will return to the National competition for the first time since 2021, and Berks County will be cheering them on as they take their talents to the national stage this April.
